How to Make a Drawstring Backpack

Hullo friends. This DIY Drawstring Backpack would make an easy Summer project for you. It’s simple to sew and makes a cute backpack that kids and teens will love. This backpack is a perfect sewing project for beginners simply because you only need to know a few sewing basics to be able to make this. Also, the material used in making this bag is amazing because you get to choose any design or color of your choice and it would still come out nice!

Materials needed:

  • fabric – 1/3 yard cotton or polyester
  • cording – 4 yards
  • matching thread thread
  • our downloadable drawstring backpack pattern /link below/
  • scissors (or rotary cutter and a cutting mat)
  • ruler or measuring tape
  • iron and ironing board
  • sewing clips or pins
  • sewing machine (standard one or heavy duty one if you are making it out of very thick fabric)
  • bodkin or a safety pin
